My husband is an avid reader. He is always suggesting books I should read. He even surprises me at times and brings a few home. I love his wisdom and patience. Part of the reason he is that way is because he gives himself the time to mature through books about business, leadership, his walk with Christ, how to be a better husband, and recently with how to be a loving dad. He will be able to apply the latter very soon!

With his loving encouragement, I have decided to broaden my horizons beyond magazines and shorter readings that I find online or through friends posts. I decided to take my nesting opportunity to the next level by deepening my spiritual awareness and opening my heart to hear what the Lord has to say specifically to me through a very special book.

On a side note and in full transparency, I have always had a passion for expressing my thoughts and feelings through writing. However, writing took the back burner for a long, long time because of insecurities about who would actually want to read what I have to say, lack of grammar expertise, and not wanting to be prideful. I have committed to myself that this blog will be a place of encouragement. I pray these words help you in some way, but really, this is a step of faith for me and I pray these words glorify God and lift Him up.

Now, back to the book. “Without Rival” by Lisa Bevere popped up on my page and as I read through the description, I thought to myself, “I have to read this!” For anyone out there who wants to awaken their soul, shine a light on a passion that you may have hidden in your heart, this book is for you. She talks through living in a day of compromise and comparison and how we are uniquely made to fulfill God’s purpose. Her words reinvigorated a passion for writing within me. It not only did that, but it also provided a perspective of how God sees me as one of a kind. Can you believe it? The God who created the universe made one me. One me, for right now, in this very moment in history and the same applies to you. Wow.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!” Psalm139:13-17

If you need a boost, a reminder, however you would like to define it, pick up “Without Rival.” Trust me, you won’t want to put it down.
